It’s time for some fresh art. One of the easiest ways to honor the change of the seasons is to rotate artwork around the home. It’s a surefire way to find yourself falling back in love with old pieces while making room for something new. This is also the perfect time of year to add a fresh palette to your surroundings. I notice that the emergence of spring always brings out a love for a new hue, a new shade. It might come from the same basic color (Hello, green. I’m looking at you.) But there are so many shades to fall in love with, so many ways to reinvent your surroundings. We Love Hue and we love art!

Alyssa Nassner of Small Talk Studio creates gorgeous prints that are bound to find a favorite spot in your home. The goal of her art is to brighten someone’s day and her prints are full of color and life and the type of aesthetic that we here at the BSP swoon over. Considering my real life thumb is anything but green, I’m thinking a Terrarium Print is something that would make me feel like my garden is perpetually growing (despite my ill thwarted attempts!) And the Springtime Owl Print? It is a must have, don’t you think? We Love Hue is under way, dear readers! Let Small Talk Studio help get you in the mood.

Our color palette says we are renters!! Pink on pink on pink would not have been our first choice : ) The place has character though, that is for sure. Those beetles rock!!

Energy! My apartment is done in blood orange and sea green. I loved both colors and decided I was going to make them work together.

The color palette of my dream home is eclectic! Different rooms have different feels so that you can always find a place that fits your mood! And yet, somehow, all the things I am collecting for that future place seem to go together in my studio apartment.

    Lindsay says:

My place’s colours are lots of natural colours like cream and wood with earthy coloured pillows and throw rugs that are home-made! I think it probably seems very traditional but I have always been attracted to a cabin-y style.

My place is all white, creme and antique black.  It says I love the simple life. I don’t like clutter and I want my life to be purely good! 🙂

Hm. This really got me thinking. My home is super simple, white walls, antique rusty things here and there. It really does describe me well though. I enjoy the simple things in life and an quire old fashioned, Now, if you go into my sons room it is the opposite. That room is all brilliant colors and fun patterns. There are green walls and rainbow accents. Perfect for a lively toddler boy full of spirit. Prints like these would have a happy home in his room!

not quite sure what it says about me, other than that i LOVE color! we have sage green and deep lavender in the hallway, a calm blue wall in the bedroom, and brick red and khaki in the kitchen.

I live with my parents at the moment so it says more about them but my own room is all white with lots of colourful accents. I think it says I like a calm, peaceful, light environment/life but I’m also a bit of a hoarder who is drawn to art & bold friendly cheerful colours!

My room has light blues and greens, as well as teal, light yellow, grass green, brown, and white. Those colors are used in my paintings that adorn my walls, so it communicates the color palettes I enjoy using in my artwork.

    -That I am not colorphobic
-That I sometimes struggle to reign things in
    -That I am “perfectly imperfect”

Thanks for a chance at one of the prints. I really like the bugs and think it would be cute framed in the nursery. xo

Our accidental color palette of black and white might say to some that we are boring and stern. But,  I like to think it says we are just sitting back and letting every other color that walks into the room pop!

    Beverly says:

My apartment is small and simple, mostly white walls and light, sandy-colored wood floors, and it is very sunny. We have windows in all four cardinal directions, so the natural light just pours in. I’ve painted the walls in my room a light golden yellow to enhance the sunny nature of our home. I think this shows that we’re sunny people with a positive approach to life, and we have simple needs. Nothing that some natural light and a few potted plants can’t perk up! The prints are lovely, I really like the bugs one and I think it would be a charming addition to our humble abode!

My color palette is really boring and dull, white walls , brown and black furniture. I hope to spice things up with color and paint soon.

I share my apartment with a horror-flick-obsessed, video-game-nerd, kaiju-vinyl-toy-collecting punk whose tastes I share, but whose aesthetic is really unexpected next to mine. We aim for (and we nail it!) a balance of my much more lighthearted style with his edgier one, and end up palette of magentas, cobalt blues, or mint green next to dark neutrals and orangey reds. Opposites attract and can compliment each other awesomely!

Way to go, Alyssa!! Love her work 😀

    Jennifer says:

My very modern home, which is done in brown and white looks very organized and clinical. I WISH my life were more that way! In reality, I’m messy and discomboblulated. My home is decorated in how I aspire to be.

the color palette of my home says that we are warm and inviting people…people who know that funky patterns don’t show dirt or smudges and that dust is a viable color option.

    Deena says:

My home is done in mostly white and cream, very shabby chic, so – romantic, girly, a bit naive, I guess? 🙂 Totally a clean freak too.

My home’s color palette is telling about me in it’s organized chaos. Lots of colors all in their own places.

    Suzi C says:

Mine says : I’m a mother AND I’m 21. I’m a lover AND a fighter. I express my feelings by painting and writing them; my feelings are on the walls. It says, I am not confused, I just like stepping into many different worlds in one house.

My room is flowery and light, whereas my wee girls room is rainbows, mushrooms and fairies… the lounge is warm colours and bright sparks of artwork.

    Faye Wood says:

I think my home suggests that I am always wishing I could live in a time gone by, when live was simple and beauty was found in the smallest of places.
I think vintage cream tea sums it up pretty well 🙂

    Sarah says:

My color palette reflects the calm I wish I had in my life. It’s all grays with pops of purple and green. I think gray is the perfect backdrop to any color palette.

Our color palette belongs to those who own our rented home. The kitchen is a light green (though I’m obsessed with green so that’s ok). Our living room has white walls and I’ve added wine colored drapes and other deep red accessories to give the room a little character. Our bedroom is full of avocado greens and golds, which I love! Perfect retreat at the end of the day.

    hanna says:

calm because I like grey a lot, but I also love pops of bright colors.

    nicolle says:

Our home says that we are addicted to our weekly trips to the vintage market. Most of our colors (whites, blues, oranges, purples) are a bit worn around the edges. We like it that way.

    joanna says:

we are painting the walls in our first apartment, and each wall says:i am the compromise. bathroom wall says: i am turquoise as a sum up of peony and limon, the living-room wall says: i am grey and that’s ok, better than white, worse than clay (it’s a rhymed wall); but the bedroom walls are bi-color,mustard/olive for not to make compromises in bedrooms.

The bright magentas, yellows and oranges say that I’m energetic, enthusiastic, and proudly quirky…And that I felt I couldn’t get away with yet another room in my favourite lime & blue-green colour scheme!

  33. 33

It says that I’m pretty classic but not afraid of color.

  34. 34

warm, friendly, outgoing, energetic and flexible. I let my kids pick out their room colors and had them help me paint their rooms! We all loved it and it turned out amazingly well.

Mine would have to be eclectic-bohemian. Cause that’s what I am and I think I will always be. My mother named me that in high school and it has now spread throughout my apartment and I like it.
