I am obsessed with Instagram. Some might argue that when you are taking pictures with your phone a large portion of the time, you aren’t really present. I would argue (that while moderation in everything is, of course, key) those moments that I choose to document tend to stay with me longer. Rather than bypassing the tiny, beautiful moments in my life, I document them. Looking back through my Instagram feed, I realize I have a visual diary of the minutiae of my world that normally glides past me. I remember sights and sounds I would have forgotten and I treasure every single image as the gift that it is.

StickyGram translates the perfect palm sized beauty of Instagram images into photo magnets. This idea is so incredibly genius that if I were speaking to you in person right now it would be in hushed tones and shielded whispers. My plan is to cover the entire side of my refrigerator (much like the photo above) so that my tiny, beautiful moments will sprinkle themselves throughout my everyday life. Reminding myself of these moments reawakens my connection with the daily grind and I notice that I actually stop to smell (okay, snap) the roses.

StickyGram is giving away one $40 gift certificate to one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Tuesday, March 19th. Comments now closed…good luck!

on my honeymoon, my husband took a pic of me in the rose garden in portland. i was wearing my fave sweater, my hair looked great, and, maybe because the pic is slightly blurry, it’s the best pic of me ever! 😉

My favorite picture of myself is actually one that was taken recently. I visited Disneyland with the husband and toddler and we had just walked through the main gates when we were approached by their photographers who offer to take a picture of your family in front of the big mickey flower head. While we waited our turn for the primo spot, I noticed that everyone was crowding as many people into the picture as possible making for a cute, but crowded, picture. When it was our turn, I posed with my beautiful family, then sent the to the side to take a picture of just myself, with my arms spread, completely enjoying the moment.
It might seem selfish or vain, but I loved it.

My sister is a photographer and recently took a candid photo of myself and my son.  We are giggling together out on my sister’s front porch.  I love how you can see the happiness and love in us both!

My most favorite photo of myself is from a trip I took with my parents in the 3rd grade. I’m 8 years old, standing on Mt. Cadillac in Maine, wearing a pink tee shirt, neon color splashed linen shorts that had “suspenders” sewed into them, a neon green fanny pack, a purple acid wash baseball cap, while holding a can of Diet Coke. My face is just hilarious because my Dad snapped the pic while I was in mid-sip and I’m kind of smiling.

    Got to LOVE the ’90’s!!

I was visiting my friend at a local coffee shop here in Austin. I just had a baby and it was one of my first outings with my baby girl. I was sitting there and holding my baby and talking to her daughter. I didn’t realize she grabbed my phone and took the best instagram picture I have ever seen! It’s a calm picture of me looking off with my little baby girl in my arms! I will always cherish this picture!

I just came across a photo of myself this week that I think is my favorite.  I am on vacation in Puerto Vallarta.  I look so relaxed and happy.  I’m wearing a plain tan linen shorts and top that I had to purchase at a local shop because all my luggage disappeared in transit.   There was such freedom in just wearing a bathing suit and a couple outfits the entire trip.  I really learned to just focus on the moment during that trip and not worry about how I looked or what I was wearing.  But I looked completely beautiful and happy.

One of my favorites is an instagram-ed pic (it makes everything look better, let’s be honest)that I took of myself bundled up in the snow. Since I am not smiling, and I always smile in pics, this image feels more “naked” and sort of refreshing in a way.

I’m reading a book at the beach, and I’m in my favorite swimsuit. I love it because it reminds me of the calm I receive being near the ocean and just reading a good book.

I am sitting on a bench in a white lace cocktail dress with paper flowers in my hands. The bench is old and rickety; the trees are golden and red because it is November. I am smiling and my eyes are closed as I lean my forehead against the shoulder of a man with fluffy curls. I look incredibly happy because in half an hour, we are getting married.

It’s hard to get all 3 of my grand sons to cooperate in picture taking (8, 5 and 4) and I don’t have the chance to be with all of them at one time, so my favorite picture is of me with the 3 of them and we were all hysterical laughing.  What matters more than what  was wearing is the huge smiles on all of our faces.

My favorite picture of myself is standing on the Great Wall of China. I was with a school group in high school and one of the teachers offered to take my photo, and she took it of me looking upward at the camera, so you can see the stairs behind and around me. I was a sophomore in high school…I’m wearing a white shirt and dark-red capris and light blue sneakers (I was going more for comfortable clothing, rather than being fashionable). I look very happy and proud to be walking in that place.

By far my favourite photo of myself is from my kindergarten Christmas party (or rather New Year’s party as Christmas did not really exist in the USSR). It’s black and white and I’m wearing this red dress that my mum had bedazzled to death. The best part is that I’m standing next to a guy dressed in a Santa suit with a huge portrait of Lenin in the background… and no one saw any irony in that juxtaposition. Then again, so many beliefs and traditions clashed in that time.

I’m not smiling or posing, pretty or even looking at the camera. But I was laughing. Hysterically laughing, all teeth displayed, probably at a dumb joke my brother made. It was my graduation day at UCLA and I was happy.

My favorite picture of myself is one in which I’m dressed for a flamenco performance in my turqouise and orange polka dotted dress, looking into the dressing room mirror to fix my makeup. The colors are striking, and I think I look quite glamorous.

This is a hard on , because I never like to be in pictures. It’s taken about one year to learn how to take my own picture and to capture my ‘good side’…….so I would say the best picture of myself is a self-portrait that I snapped about a month ago. I love black and white and been experimenting a lot with it, this was implemented into the photo.

My favorite photo of myself was taken when I was about 5 years old. I’m going out to ‘help’ my dad work on the car. In one hand I have my tool box and in the other I have my makeup box. Because as arctic explorer Louise Boyd put it best: “…There is no reason why a woman can’t rough it and still remain feminine.”

My favorite picture of myself is one from a family vacation to Asheville, North Carolina. It was the last trip we all took together, and the photo was taken when we pulled over to a scenic overlook on the blue ridge parkway. I’m wearing jeans and a bright red scarf and the wind is blowing everyone’s hair just right. I love to remember that beautiful day and our relaxing time spent together, exploring and hiking and fishing.

My favorite photo is a candid taken by my sister in law last Father’s Day.  My son was on my husband’s shoulders, and all 3 of us are laughing and enjoying the moment together.  Nothing is better than being with my family!
