Surely I’m not the only one who spends their summers sans shoes. It is safe to say my toes are open and free the duration of the summer months and it only seems apropos to continue this tradition through September and our “Endless Summer.” The desire for luxurious pedicures aside, I find myself looking around my house and reevaluating my rug situation during these months. I mean, if my bare feet are going to be padding around on the floor, I want something comfy and stylish greeting them.
Taryn Boyd of Talking Squid creates fabulous, eco-friendly rugs from upcycled tshirts repurposed from a screenprinting shop. As Boyd says, these rugs “wear and tear like your favorite t-shirt; they last a lifetime.” The perfect marriage of form and function result in stylish rugs that add the perfect touch of comfortable whimsy to your room. Channeling the stylings of the ever popular flokati rug, Boyd’s designs add a touch of homemade sophistication to the picture. My feet would be happy and carefree atop this grey rug and I’m pretty sure they would stay that way for the duration of this “Endless Summer.”

Holding on the sunshine and long days…
Fresh tomatoes from the garden.
Long, lazy days with my two little daughters. . .
still wearing sandals and summery skirts to work!
The smell of the earth that has been warmed by the sun.
The sunbleached streaks in my hair help me hold onto the memory of a scent of warm, sandy skin mixed with hot, salty air. I took a lot of naps on the beach this summer and enjoyed every moment of wave-infused dreams. Physically, I am holding onto summer by eating as much sorbet as possible!
meeting my daughter…
Lots of trips to the park with my kids. Still having some cookouts and picnic dinners too while the weather is nice.
My garden– it actually did well this summer, for the first time ever & I hate the idea of all the lovely plants going dormant!

flip-flops on my feet, and no grooming more complicated than my hair in a pony tail!! I’m holding on to summer with my whole spirit, especially since the boys are back in school and I miss them home…so we stay outside as much as possible and try to keep our schedules as uncomplicated as we can!
I’m holding on to my summer clothes! Neon & pastel, shorts and sundresses, sandals and wedges!
I’m holding on to watermelon because it’s the best summer fruit!
Flip flops and tank tops! and margaritas!
I’m trying to stuff myself with summer fruits as much as I can before prices start skyrocketing once they’re out of season. Although I like fall fruits too (can’t wait to make apple pies!), there’s nothing more refreshing than a fresh bowl of berries :]
Peace! I feel so thankfull for all the little things of my summer holidays, for smiles, sun, breeze, waves and – above all – my dearest ones at my side. How couldn’t I feel peace in my heart?

I’m desperately trying to hold onto my tan.
It’s almost Summer here in NZ (thank god, our Winter was rough!) and I’ve found myself keeping the curtains and doors open until the sun goes down. Which isn’t really optimal considering about 5pm it gets a little chilly… Sun goes down here around 6.30 now (it goes til 10 sometimes in Summer!). Can’t wait.
p.s was on your etsy store last night favouriting things (LOVE the rainbow rug!!! my wee girls room is rainbow) so it made me laugh to see this giveaway.
