Can we talk about the importance of accessories? It’s been on my mind for awhile because I’ve realized my utilization of such details has waned significantly in the past few years and it is starting to take a toll. Looking back at photos of myself, I see someone with a certain zest, a style, a brightness. Lately, however, accessories sit in a drawer, lonely. Yet, I’m drawn to accessories like a moth to a flame. It’s time to start braving the heat, me thinks.

I’m so excited to introduce you to Ryan Horton from The Blooming Thread. Horton believes that accessories bring out our confidence, our personal style, our individuality. I couldn’t agree more. Think about it. You are drawn to certain things, right? Things that make you feel like the best version of yourself. Personally, I see the best me in the Mod Black Picture Locket (so chic!) and the Black Rose Fabric Brooch. Hmm. Seems my bets version is chic and timeless. Much like The Blooming Thread.

The Blooming Thread is giving away one $40 gift certificate to one lucky reader! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Tuesday, February 19th.
Please visit The Blooming Thread and tell us: What is your power color?

I liked the little photo lockets. My power color? that’s a hard question because I mostly wear black pants with a white lab jacket! when I can bust out of work, I tend to wear taupe or apricot, which don’t seem very powerful, but I feel enhance my skin tone : )

Love the vintage necklace with the sparrow on it! 🙂 My favorite power color is PINK! When I was little I loved the color pink. I was able to decorate my own bedroom, and I had pink carpet, pink curtains and wallpaper with little pink flowers. Wearing pink today reminds me to always play nice and smile. Let self doubt go away and just be me!

love the fiery red locket! and the teal is not bad too 🙂

although i am quiet by nature, my power colour is red. bright, in-your-face red, or dark maroon, as long as it’s red. i think having bright accessories and clothes is awesome, cos sometimes i just rather let the accessories/clothes do the talking rather than myself. it tells everyone “don’t mess with me!” without me having to say a word 🙂

My power color is red. It’s my favorite color and it makes me feel bold and confident, but besides, there’s evidence that people respond strongly to red, so it’s a “power color” in very concrete terms, as well!

love all those photo lockets. So drawn to the cobalt blues and deep purples. My power color is color! I love to mix one bright piece or accent into an outfit of neutrals, a cobalt shirt under a grey suit or a bright scarf on a black top. Makes people pay attention 🙂

What gorgeous accessories you make! I love the mint locket. So beautiful. This last Christmas, I went shopping with all of my sisters-in-law and my mother-in-law and they convinced me to buy a pair of crimson skinny jeans. I know many people are into the colored jeans right now, but If you saw my very conservative wardrobe of blue jeans and neutral colored tops, you’d know this was a stretch for me. But it’s amazing how color makes me feel powerful, like I’m making a statement, that I’m not afraid to be noticed. That’s a step for me.

Turquoise turquoise, anything turquoise! I tend to wear a lot of neutrals, so I love throwing a pop of turquoise in somewhere to brighten things up. Which is why the Teal Blue Enamel Locket is calling my name!

My power color is lavender and purple. When I recently cleand out my closet, I realized that all my favorite clothing pieces were in those colors. I love to mix it with unexpected colors to keep it fresh. It makes me happy and feel good all year long!

I love your enamel lockets! So dainty and pretty.
My power color is definitely red. I don’t wear red all that often, so when I do I feel that much more powerful. I’m like Superwoman but instead of a cape, I wear bright red lipstick when I head out to conquer the world.

I attend school in inner Baltimore city. Sometimes, among the abandond homes and weeds growing through the cracks, beauty can be hard to find. There is one spot I can always count on seeing outstandingly energizing beauty: the sunset. Here there is often a blue and yellow sunset (this is an overly simplified description of the magnificent canvas painted across the sky at twilight each day). The deep blue of the sunset which settles upon the horizon of Baltimore: that is my power color

    Kate B says:

Even before Pantone announced it as their color of the year, I was really getting into emerald green. It is so beautifully cheery and never feels frivolous to me the way that a bright pink can (though I will rock a fuscia top, too, don’t get me wrong). I’ve found my emerald green pieces pair well with a lot of my neutral clothing; it looks smashing with navy, brown, black and grey. Every time I catch a glimpse of my emerald top or emerald flats, I feel energized. I have a meeting tonight for emerging women entrepreneurs and to give myself a confidence boost, I doubled up on the emerald today!

    I love the

    Barbi says:

I love the Diamond Heart Shaped Charm and Red Enamel Locket Necklace – my very favorite and definitely my color, although I truly love all the bold colors (teal, royal blue, deep purple, emerald, lime, fuscia, fire engine red, copper) and I wear them all. The brighter and bolder, the better (yet my daughter will tell you that all my casual “track suits” are black – go figure), The older I get the more color I crave – maybe it’s to give me energy – but I would wear that necklace along with another longer one – I do love my bling!!

Without a doubt – Green! Accentuates my eyes and makes me feel lovely and woodsy.

Oh red without hesitation. Whether it is red nailpolish on my toes or a bright red top, anything fire-engine brings out the inner, well, firebrand in me. I haven’t plucked up the courage to wear bright red trousers yet, but who knows what will happen if I do. World peace, maybe? 🙂

RED!! When we’re talking lipstick, that is. Nothing makes me feel more like Wonder Woman than bright red lipstick. I’m unstoppable when I’m wearing it.

My favorite color is purple, I don’t necessarily feel powerful when I wear it, but I love all my purple clothes best.

  37. 37
    Renee A. says:

Actually my power color is not what one would expect, it’s not some bright color that screams out here I am, it’s earthy colors and pastels that are my power colors, they make me feel more like who I am, more feminine, more stronger and confident with who I am and proud of myself. I don’t need a bright color to tell people look at me and then get to know me, I let my color choices speak for myself to let people know what type of person I am and people compliment me on my color choices saying they look good on me. My power color(s) are all about me feeling good on the inside and being able to radiate that beauty to the world. Anybody can wear and get attention from bright colors, but how many get attention by being the person they are and showing it and wearing it proudly?

  38. 38
    Tiffany says:

The lockets are wonderful! I would say my power color isn’t even really a color? I’m drawn to creams and whites. When I’m surrounded by creams I feel at ease, peaceful and clear headed. I feel like I can accomplish what I set out to do and with a smile on my face. Yup…bright colors are certainly fun, but whites and creams are more my style.

I love to wear a bright but deep emerald green.  Nothing makes my pale skin look so radiant.  It makes me feel so vibrant and alive.  It can’t be a bad day when I’m wearing emerald.
