Does anyone else feel like 2013 is gaining momentum? There is something vibrant and energetic in the air and I’ve noticed a definite pull to create more, to enjoy more, to add more color to my life (figuratively and literally.) Just this last weekend, I found myself going through my house and packing away all of the housewares and tchotchkes that didn’t make me want to sing. I figure that if I’m going to put as much effort as possible into bringing joy into my year, I may as well start at home.

The white sparkle candle cups are the perfect match of natural and bling!  For my birthday, instead of presents I asked my boyfriend to cook for me all day and give me the chance to sew all day long!  It was such a lovely gift I may ask for it every year!

The black and Sparkle Crossed 7″ Wood Bowl and the arrows!!

so many fun things. When I treat myself, i get a pedicure and for an extra extra treat I get a massage. My life is full and fun and exhausting so the treats for myself are few and far between but treasured

So hard to pick!  Everything in there is so neat!  I love the wooden spoons and I need a couple…

I don’t have the money or the time to treat myself to much these days…usually it’s something small that’s been on my list for a long time.  Like last week I picked up some embroidery floss at Walmart to make bracelets.

Well, after a big test a few weeks ago, I let myself buy a latte.  It was worth it. 🙂

Oooh, I love the Brite and White crossed bowl – it is spectacular! http://windandwillowhome.bigcartel.com/product/brite-and-white-crossed-7-wood-bowl

I bragged on myself a little during a staff meeting this morning, and it felt REALLY good to be honest about doing a good job at work instead of shrugging it off as “all in a day’s work.”

I’m in love with any and all of the wood bowls. They come in such fantastic and fun colors! I must say this is a thought provoking question. I had to really think about it. I try and do nice things for others all of the time but myself? Recently I gifted myself the permission to wait…. I have been the last of my friends to find love, get married, buy a house and have kids..and I’ve felt a whole lot of pressure (mostly put on myself) to catch up. Recently I told myself that this is no race and that my time will come for all of these things. I granted myself the permission to take a stroll in life instead of sprint it. Seems simple but it has provided me with so much peace.

The black and sparkle crossed wood bowl is lovely.  I’ve recently been on a boot buying binge. Three pairs in less than a month, but all at prices too good to resist!

I love the Ice and Grey crossed wooden bowl–love the combination of the wood and the colors. So chic. The last kind thing I did for myself was let my husband sleep in so I could snuggle my kids in the early hours of the day and get them bathed and fed. Since I started working full time in the fall, I’ve missed them so much, even though I’m able to work from home (when I hear them laughing downstairs, I just want to shout down, ‘hey guys, whatcha doin down there? something fun? let me play!!!). They are my sunshine and I’m a much happier woman when I face the day armed with a few snuggles under my belt.

I love all the Kantha quilts. They are all so retro and fun. Timeless. I love quilts. They are so comforting. Reminds me of home.

The last time I did something kind for myself was after Christmas when I defintely ate my share in goodies and pt on a few pounds, so I treated myself to an at home hair dye……(because I was jobless). 🙂

The rain print and the wonderfully whimsical fabric stickers are two of my favorites from this shop!!

I guess the last time I did something really kind for myself was when I gave myself permission to dump a whole container of bath salts in the bath and just be lazy and soak in the tub and read for an entire afternoon. It was so rejuvenating and felt completely luxurious!

My favorite item is the Flying Friends Fabric Wall Stickers!

Last act of kindness for myself has been taking time to KNIT. Working as an art teacher leaves me little time to knit because I need to lesson plan, teach, etc., so everyday after dinner I spend about 30 minutes just knitting. And I’m already making progress!

i think the “soar cups” are so pretty. and the last act of kindness i did for myself was buying some used cookbooks. i love reading them and it’s like taking a little vacation! plus, i get new cooking ideas.

My favorite item from Wind and Willow Home are the Misty Morning Earrings and the last act of kindness I paid to myself was taking a jewelry making class at a bead shop. I had really wanted to learn a particular technique and drove about 120 miles round-trip to get there, but it was so worth it.

I love the soar dish and the live simply print!
I make a habit of making myself coffee and sitting in bed to read each morning. It’s the perfect start to the day and makes me really feel rested and ready to begin again, and somehow has a touch of luxury about it.

I LOVE the neon swirl cherry bowl! The last act of kindness I paid myself was getting a pedicure on the day before my dad’s funeral. I thought I owed it to myself to take an hour to relax and to remove myself from that terrible situation for a little while.

I really, really like the items for sale at Wind and Willow Home–just my style!!  And my first favorite item is the Brite and White Crossed Wood Bowl.

The last act of kindness I paid myself was today when I borrowed my mother’s crockpot and then borrowed a crockpot cookbook from a friend, who is a fantastic cook with kids the same age as mine, in an attempt to lighten my housework load and reduce my stress.  The best part was when she texted back that, yes, she did have a good cookbook for me to borrow, why don’t I stay for a cup of tea and visit when I stopped by to pick it up, instead of rushing off to finish my “chores” and make dinner, I had a lovely visit and made sandwiches for dinner instead.  Everybody was happy and most of all I had time to relax and catch up with a friend.  Being able to give myself a kindness like this is double gift–I feel revived (& hopeful about having control over my schedule and fulfilling the needs of my family) and connected to someone I care about!

The fresh produce painting would look quite lovely in my new apartment kitchen…once I find an apartment.

After weeks of traveling, talking, and working, I finally allowed myself to full-out veg: pajamas all day, no makeup, a glass of wine, and romantic comedies that I would be too embarrassed to admit watching. Lazy and unproductive? Yes. Amazing? Absolutely.

    jane says:

loving the sundog trio rings! love the colours 🙂

i think the last act of kindness i paid to myself was to not berate myself for not doing up to my own expectations in my last round of exams (expecting perfection, which i obviously didn’t get) but instead knowing that i tried my best and walking away from this experience feeling at peace! sometimes i think we are the hardest on ourselves, and we would all be happier if we gave ourselves a break at times 🙂

Yesterday I was feeling really sick. So, I let myself off the hook from the projects I had planned for my Saturday and just tried to feel better. No guilt, just lots of tea, reading, and a nap. Your store is beautiful. I really love it all, but the walnut and glitter bowl is my favorite.

I absolutely love the sets of wooden spoons in soft grey!

On my way home from a particularly grueling day at work, I popped into my neighbourhood depanneur to purchase the latest edition of the magazine, The New Yorker and a chocolate. I went home put on some comfy clothes, made a pot of tea, and snuggled up for a few hours and read to my hearts content.

I love the set of 3 Soft Grey Wooden Spoons. They are simple and natural, with just the slightest pop of color. For me, taking the time out of my work day to go hiking with my dog refreshes and inspires me, even though it is hard to break off from my desk to do so.

I love a lot of the things in this shop, but my fave would be the Bountiful Berry Kantha Quilt….talk about a statement piece! The most recent act of kindness I paid to myself was to take a day off of doing all housework and just relaxing and enjoying myself….I have three teen daughters so they were all very sweet enough to do everything that needed to be done around the house and without complaints. 🙂

While I truly love each item in this beautiful shop, I have to say the large sparkle walnut bowl is my favorite. The last act of kindness I paid to myself was taking myself to a well-deserved yoga class, even though I have been busy packing for a move. I could have stayed home and finished packing, but I decided to take a break and care for my body and soul.
