Pop Quiz!

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Hi, dear friends! We wanted to take this moment to check in with you, our community, to ask a few simple questions so that we can make sure your experience with the BSP is one that is beneficial and fulfilling. If you could take a few moments to share your answers in the comments, we would be ever so grateful!

1. What is your favorite aspect of The Bright Side Project?

2. What would you like to see more of?

3. Is there anything you would change if you could?

4. Do you have any suggestions for future segments; are there any areas of interest you wish were represented?

5. What types of giveaways are you most interested in? Are there categories you wish were highlighted more frequently?

Thank you so much! We want to tailor your experience here at the BSP to be something fulfilling and meaningful and your input greatly helps us do this. Have a wonderful day and we look forward to hearing from you!

I love to answer questions a few times a week that help me to reflect on my life and give me excuses to write thoughtfully.

I’m guessing the overwhelming majority of responses are from women, so this may not be very popular, but I’d love to see some beautifully crafted men’s goods as prizes. I feel like that area is underserved in the artisan world and I’d love to be exposed to new makers. I occasionally enter when the prize isn’t my particular taste if I know someone it’d be perfect for so I can spread sunshine to others. I wonder if others would feel the same about men’s goods.

Also as a new mom, I’d love to see more children related things as well. Before I had kids, I still would have gleaned present ideas for my niece and nephews and entered specifically for them.

I know there are tons of giveaway sites and programs and this is the only one I follow and enter. I love the quality, the friendliness of the staff and the fact that I’m not required to spam social media to increase my chances. I’ve been able to connect in a human way with some of the artisans and that’s interesting and important to me.

Thank you for your efforts in running the site, it is often a bright spot in my week.

This is the only writing/giveaway site that I enter, and only one of a few websites that I look at/read regularly.  I love the questions–we talk about them in our household, I love, love, love reading what other people write.  I wish there was more dialogue from readers on the weekend quotes and lemonade stand writing but I understand, those posts often leaving me thinking and not often responding. I really appreciate how clicking on links opens new windows to the BSP participants’ sites or other BSP posts and leaves a current window open also. The prizes are always beautiful and I love exploring their homesites for ideas and to buy things.  I wish more people knew about this site and I am curious to know what the experience is like for the artist/artisan/seller who posts the question and picks the winner, that would be a lovely third/follow up post, like the eye on the prize post. I like seeing how the winner enjoys their prize (but I realize I’ve never done that, but I will if I win again!).

I love the positivity of this page.  I look forward to the lemonade stand posts and seeing what others answer in the questions.  It’s really motivating! I can’t think of anything I would change.  As far as giveaways, I think there’s a unique spectrum of artists and it’s awesome. I’ve found so many sites and artists that I’ve never heard of before and ended up buying gifts for friends.  Spotlighting local artisans and people really creating their own things is amazing.

I love this site so much. Like the other’s above, it is the only blog I visit and the only giveaway site I ever enter. I love that the comments are read and that the artist gets to pick. I feel a connection to these people and I love answering questions as honestly as possible. It is a highlight every day. I always read all of the comments and although I don’t know any of the other contestants personally, I love getting to know them through their comments. I feel a sense of community here.

I would second Kate’s motion for more kids’ products and men’s products, although I love the range of products that are highlighted. I love hearing about the creative process for these artists and would love to hear more. I love seeing how people come to do what they love and are passionate about. Thank you for all you do. You make my life brighter.

    1. I love the giveaways of course, but I like the thought provoking questions the best. Some of them are actually very memorable for me months after I have answered them. I have uncovered some inner truth through The Bright Side.

    2. I would love to see more of YOU! I have read your bios but are there “Sunshine Posts” highlighting Krista and Miss B? You ladies put a lot into this site and I would love to learn more about you…in a totally non creepy way. 😀

    3. I don’t know about changes. It seems pretty perfect to me! I guess if I were thinking on a very trivial level – I really liked it a year or two ago when the giveaway winners were announced around roughly the same time every week. It seems sporadic now. Not a problem whatsoever but just a thought.

    4. I vote Mens and Childrens products too!

    5. I love the art and home decor giveaways the best. I would love to see a few giveaways by some musical artists! Woodworkers have a special place in my heart, too.

I really love everything you do here. It truly has brought more sunshine to my days in the past 3 years that I have been visiting this site. Thank you!

My favorite part of this site is the uniqueness.  I don’t know of another blog where readers are asked a thoughtful question in order to enter a giveaway.  “winning” feels more special because you’re actually chosen based upon your heartfelt answer and not randomly selected.

I love this site!  I enjoy handmade natural/organic beauty products (makeup, perfume, etc), so seeing more of that would be great!  Men’s goods would be nice as well, so we can get ideas for the men in our lives 🙂

    Thanks for all you do!

    1. I love that the BSP feels like a community. I like that I recognize names of commenters. I feel like I know their stories and can celebrate their win with them 🙂

    2. In the same way that you highlight the designers for giveaways, I would like to see highlights of charitable organizations. I’m always looking for more ways to give back, but it’s not always easy to know what is reputable. For example, I know that Warby Parker sells awesome, high quality glasses (for cheap) and gives a pair to someone in need for every pair sold. I would like to know about similar companies (perhaps it’s a charity like Heifer Int. or a site that sells fair trade goods). Maybe members of our BSP community can email you suggestions?

    3. I wish there was a “like” button on the non-giveaway posts. I don’t always have time to comment since my job is go go go, but I want you all to know that the content is always appreciated.

    4. I’ve enjoyed the positive videos and stories you’ve shared. I would like that to stay 🙂 I also second Pumpernickel’s suggestion about highlighting the women who run the BSP. I know you did that way back when the BSP started, but I would like to hear updates.

    5. I like all the jewelry, home decor (ceramics!), and art (photo prints!) giveaways. I also agree that men and kid giveaways would be a nice addition.

I love the sunshine that this website spreads! Honestly, life gets really hard sometimes and it is good to know that there is always this place I go to feel good about the world again and think about the things that are important to me and celebrate the things that are important to others. And if you aren’t sick of hearing it yet- the community is pretty great too 😉 I really feel like everyone here has such positive vibes and from reading the comments- most of you have been through a lot in your lives and have come out shining. All of the positivity this website exudes is an inspiration to shine. Thank you ladies so much for all that you do and I can only hope that the project is as rewarding for you as it is for us.

    1. What is your favorite aspect of The Bright Side Project?
Getting to be introduced to so many great independent creators.

    2. What would you like to see more of?
I’d love to see a little more DIY.

    3. Is there anything you would change if you could?
I’d love, love, love a way to subscribe to comments. I feel like that would help to foster more of a community feel, as we could reply to each other’s comments with a reasonably good expectation that the other person would see them.
