Hello, dear readers. One special new feature we’ve added this year is the occasional spotlight on one of our contributors. Inherent in the mission statement of The Bright Side Project is the unspoken belief that to “Do What You Love, Love What You Do” is an absolutely essential component in creating a happy and healthy lifestyle. Every now and then, we will ask our contributors to answer a few short questions on the ideas of happiness, creativity and sunshine. We hope these rays of light help inspire you to find the sunshine in your day, today and everyday.
Today we are honored to introduce you to olive yew!
Please introduce yourself to our readers and explain a little bit about your business.
Hello, my name is Angela and I’m the owner of Olive Yew!, handmade jewelry. I make petite, simple gold, silver and rose gold jewelry. I love the creative side of the business, but as a former designer/creative director I also enjoy marketing aspect of running this business. In fact, I enjoy just about everything I do with regard to work these days. I consider myself very lucky to have found something that allows me to express myself creatively while being able to use the skill set I developed over many years in corporate culture.
We believe that one of the ways to achieve happiness is to “Do what you love, love what you do.” How does this philosophy apply to your life?
It applies to my life and work on a daily basis. I was so frustrated for many years because I so desperately wanted to find “it”. I knew I
could be good at something, I just had to figure out what it was! I was told I was good at design but cubicles and offices make me itchy.
Now I look forward to work every day. It’s not just a job, it’s part of who I am and it means a lot to me to be able to enjoy work every
single day. It feels like freedom.
Our mission here at The Bright Side Project is to spread sunshine on a daily basis because we firmly that life is (still) beautiful. Where do you find beauty and inspiration?
I know it’s said a lot but I see it everywhere. I love to work in my gardens, so many times I’ll find inspiration in the yard. I also love
to look at what people around me are wearing. It’s interesting to me to notice how people express themselves through clothing and
accessories. My extensive bead collection also inspires me.
On a dreary day, what do you do to infuse your life with a little bit of sunshine?
I piddle in the studio, watch a Chopped marathon, play fetch with my new shelter kitty or watch the birds. I’m usually grateful for the rain, it helps my garden grow!
What are you most grateful for?
I’m so very grateful that I found something I love to do and am fortunate enough to call it my job. I think that if you can find something you love to do, you’ll grow to be very good at it in time. I’m excited to continue on this journey for many years to come. I’m also grateful for my family and friends. They truly believe in me and I have a pretty incredible cheerleading team. There’s not a lot more I could ask for in the world.
