Hello, dear readers. Inherent in the mission statement of The Bright Side Project is the unspoken belief that to “Do What You Love, Love What You Do” is an absolutely essential component in creating a happy and healthy lifestyle. Every now and then, we will ask our contributors to answer a few short questions on the ideas of happiness, creativity and sunshine. We hope these rays of light help inspire you to find the sunshine in your day, today and everyday.
Today we are honored to introduce you to Andrea from Andrea Bonelli Jewelry.
Please introduce yourself to our readers and explain a little bit about your business.
My name is Andrea Bonelli, the Metalsmith behind my eco friendly jewelry line in the San Francisco East Bay Area. I’m a one woman show taking care of every aspect of my business. I’m self taught in everything that I do artistically through and through (just call me a book hoarder) and I feel for me this is the best way to learn things at my own pace while creating pieces that mirror my artistic vision. Because of this my jewelry is always in a constant state of evolution as I hone my skills and find new and exciting textures and techniques to work with.
Over the years I have worked in various mediums such as PMC, Resins, Etching and Enameling in addition to metalmithing. I’m always curious about new techniques and will jump at the chance to integrate new and old techniques to create something new and different.
We believe that one of the ways to achieve happiness is to “Do what you love, love what you do.” How does this philosophy apply to your life?
I enjoy what I do and working with my hands to create pieces that people enjoy wearing. I find that the most joy that I receive is when I create pieces for couples. It signifies a unity that is beautiful and I was able to take part in that. Keeps me going.
Our mission here at The Bright Side Project is to spread sunshine on a daily basis because we firmly that life is (still) beautiful. Where do you find beauty and inspiration?
I have quiet time for myself that I feel is necessary for any busy artist and most of my inspiration comes from nature. I have a large water fountain in my garden just for me to be able to watch the birds as I drink my morning coffee or afternoon tea. Watching the birds that come to visit me daily and watering my herb garden make me realize how blessed and lucky that I really am.
On a dreary day, what do you do to infuse your life with a little bit of sunshine?
On those days I count my blessings. My children, my home, our health, my business etc. I never take anything for granted anymore because you never know what life is going to throw at you at any given time. I’m thankful for my family and when you honestly stop and take an inventory of what you have to be thankful in your life, you’ll realize how lucky you really are.
What are you most grateful for?
My children and our health. As long as I have these 2 things, I have all that I need.
