Today we are honored to introduce you to Kim from Beck n Hale Boutique.

Please introduce yourself to our readers and explain a little bit about your business.

I have always dreamed about having a little boutique. I have always loved jewelry, and accessories…But life took me down another path and I ended up in corporate America as the VP of a recruiting firm that placed within the financial services industry. I got married, had two daughters. Working long hours, being married, and having children there was not much free time left for me to get a manicure (much less follow my dreams.) I find that the universe has a way of clearing the plate for those that just can not do it for themselves. In 2008 when the financial market crashed, there went my job. Just 6 months later my husband was injured at work. Change was in the air and I couldn’t stop it. Having two children and now both of us not working was scary. I did the woe is me and I had my pity party. I was lost, sad, angry. And one evening while sitting at the dinner table my daughter says “Why aren’t you doing a boutique, Mom? It’s been something you have always wanted to do and time prevented you. Um, mom… you have the time.” Well,  that is when I put pen to paper and Kitsy Lane appeared. It offered me a way to open my own boutique and grow my business the way I wanted with the merchandise I pick out and change as I want. It is a pay it forward company: a win, win.

Beck N Hale is an online jewelry and accessories boutique. Boutique owners operate under a parent company Kitsy Lane. Kitsy Lane has a very unique pay it forward platform. It’s costs nothing to open your boutique, you get a website that you get to customize to your likes, You may advertise and promote your boutique with zero restrictions. It’s a pay it forward company. I have on-trend house brands as well as some great pieces from some up and coming designers.I soon will be featuring eye wear and a children’s section.

We believe that one of the ways to achieve happiness is to “Do what you love, love what you do.” How does this philosophy apply to your life?

I wish I could say that this part has been easy for me, but I am a work in progress. I have always known what it is that I love to do but not always what one loves will pay the bills. It’s been a leap of faith and I have had to trust that when I am doing what I love, the money will follow. It’s a different time but I really wish those words were said to me while I was growing up. I encourage my daughters all the time to find what it is they truly love and don’t let it go. I will say this:  having opened my boutique my girls have seen me practice what I preach. They have been by my side watching, learning, and cheering me on.

Our mission here at The Bright Side Project is to spread sunshine on a daily basis because we firmly believe that life is (still) beautiful. Where do you find beauty and inspiration?

Nature. Hikes through the canyons, sitting on the beach, being still and really looking and listening to all that is around me. Those things I lose when I am caught up in the daily grind.

On a dreary day, what do you do to infuse your life with a little bit of sunshine?

The Bright Side Project has been a nightly staple at dinner. We have a chalkboard table and I will write the question of the day down and once my daughters begin to answer it brings sunshine in on the gloomiest of days.

What are you most grateful for?

I am grateful that each day holds new possibilities to learn, to love, to laugh. Each day I am grateful for the unconditional love and support of my family and dear friends.
