Hello, dear readers. Inherent in the mission statement of The Bright Side Project is the unspoken belief that to “Do What You Love, Love What You Do” is an absolutely essential component in creating a happy and healthy lifestyle. Every now and then, we will ask our contributors to answer a few short questions on the ideas of happiness, creativity and sunshine. We hope these rays of light help inspire you to find the sunshine in your day, today and everyday.
Today we are honored to introduce you to Tania from EcoShag.
Please introduce yourself to our readers and explain a little bit about your business.
My name is Tania and I’m the owner/designer of EcoShag.
EcoShag was born out of nostalgia. Memories of my sister making scarf necklaces is what inspired it all, and really, her passing is what propelled me into starting this business. Of course, providing for my family has always been an important factor, but I wanted to take it further than that, I wanted to make a difference. In particular, I wanted to have a hand in finding a cure for brain tumors/cancer. A little over a year later and here I am, donating to different causes, contributing to a variety of charitable events, and touching peoples lives throughout the world. It’s strange, I never once thought that scarves could have a positive impact on humanity, but they have….and for that, I am most grateful.
The icing on the cake? I’m doing what I can to help the environment. I upcycle materials that are already in circulation or purchase organic textiles. I also use materials that are in need of some tlc to become marketable again. It’s imperfect perfection.
We believe that one of the ways to achieve happiness is to “Do what you love, love what you do.” How does this philosophy apply to your life?
For the first time in my life, I’m doing something I love. I’m always looking forward to tomorrow. My mind is now occupied by building and creating, not maintaining or tolerating.
Our mission here at The Bright Side Project is to spread sunshine on a daily basis because we firmly that life is (still) beautiful. Where do you find beauty and inspiration?
I find beauty and inspiration in people, many of which are customers that I have come to see as friends. The survivors, the family and friends of survivors, the terminally ill, the nurses, doctors, and the countless others that have touched my life along the way. I wonder sometimes if they realize the momentum that they’ve given me.
On a dreary day, what do you do to infuse your life with a little bit of sunshine?
In all honesty, my children are a daily dose of sunshine. There are times when they stop me in my tracks and I can’t do anything but stand there in awe. Their creativity, wit, humor, imaginations…..it all amazes me.
What are you most grateful for?
I am most grateful for my family and friends. Without those relationships, life just wouldn’t be as sweet.
