Monday, September 17, 2012

Hello, dear readers. Inherent in the mission statement of The Bright Side Project is the unspoken belief that to “Do What You Love, Love What You Do” is an absolutely essential component in creating a happy and healthy lifestyle. Every now and then, we will ask our contributors to answer a few short questions on the ideas of happiness, creativity and sunshine. We hope these rays of light help inspire you to find the sunshine in your day, today and everyday.

Today we are honored to introduce you to Nicole and Jennifer from Painted Bird.

Please introduce yourself to our readers and explain a little bit about your business.

Morning coffee on the corner, afternoon at the beach, dinner in the city…Los Angeles, London, Morocco, India…Whatever you fancy, whatever you dream, Painted Bird shoes help take you there. Each pair of Painted Bird shoes are like beautiful jewels for your feet. They are artisan crafted, hand crocheted shoes resulting in a product that is altogether exquisite and unique as well as incredibly comfortable.

Painted Bird officially took flight this Summer, 2012. The collection is designed and created by Jennifer Samson and Nicole Halpern, two veterans in the fashion, design and public relations industries. With combined experience in the luxury fashion market, the surf industry and lifestyle television, the two have combined their knowledge to create a product born out of a passion for fierce fashion that is both chic and easy. Both women reside in Southern California and share a common love for their growing children, their lifestyle and their desire to create a shoe that is both versatile and beautiful for women of all ages.

The brand was created to allow every woman the freedom to express their own sense of fashion and individuality and effortlessly blend both high style and ease. Whether it be for work, play, travel or just a day around town, let your true self soar in Painted Bird shoes.

We believe that one of the ways to achieve happiness is to “Do what you love, love what you do.” How does this philosophy apply to your life?

This is such a true philosophy. Both Jen and I love what we do. Not only are we friends that get to work together on a daily basis but we get to design shoes that are stylish and comfortable. As moms we strive for comfort and style and we get to bring an amazing product to women that will makes them feel feminine and unique as they go about their day.

Our mission here at The Bright Side Project is to spread sunshine on a daily basis because we firmly that life is (still) beautiful. Where do you find beauty and inspiration?

We find beauty in confidence. When wearing painted birds you are expressing yourself with something that is unique and beautiful. The colors are all so bright and will attract attention from everyone that catches a glance of them. On a daily basis we find beauty and inspiration in our surroundings. We live in the most amazing area with an amazing sense of community. We are inspired by the colors of the ocean, amazing sunsets or just the smile on our childrens faces. We are inspired by getting a great workout in or just surfing in the ocean. Being strong fun women that can try to take it all on while looking cute and feeling comfortable in Painted Birds.

On a dreary day, what do you do to infuse your life with a little bit of sunshine?

Wear colorful painted bird shoes.

What are you most grateful for?

We are so grateful for a healthy family and all the little things in life. We are extremely lucky to be able to walk outside and head to the beach or around town to all the fun art festivals that Laguna Beach has to offer with our kids in tow. We are lucky and grateful that we have found each other and have become business partners in a company that we are both fully passionate about.
