Hello, dear readers. Inherent in the mission statement of The Bright Side Project is the unspoken belief that to “Do What You Love, Love What You Do” is an absolutely essential component in creating a happy and healthy lifestyle. Every now and then, we will ask our contributors to answer a few short questions on the ideas of happiness, creativity and sunshine. We hope these rays of light help inspire you to find the sunshine in your day, today and everyday.
Today we are honored to introduce you to Rossella from RossLab.
Please introduce yourself to our readers and explain a little bit about your business.
Hello, everyone, I am Rossella (aka Ross), the creative mind and muddy hands behind RossLab’s ceramics.
I have always made things and experimented with different media since I was little but when I discovered clay few years ago, I totally fell for it. Clay is a basic but versatile element, and working on the potter’s wheel is a calm and inspiring process. Born and raised in Italy, I now live in the Bay Area. My European roots, love for traveling, nature, and anything vintage show in my creations. All my ceramics are handmade and hand painted by me, and I believe in making special things for special people to enjoy everyday.
We believe that one of the ways to achieve happiness is to “Do what you love, love what you do.” How does this philosophy apply to your life?
That is my belief, too, and the reason why I left a more orthodox career to focus on pottery and photography. That is what makes me happy. You can lie to yourself and pretend you love what you don’t, but it is not worth it. If you know what would really make you happy, then go for it!
Our mission here at The Bright Side Project is to spread sunshine on a daily basis because we firmly believe that life is inherently beautiful. Where do you find beauty and inspiration?
Life is beautiful, indeed! Beauty is everywhere, and it’s still there even when we overlook it. Nature amazes me everyday, starting from the littlest things, and it is a great source of inspiration for my colors and patterns. I tend to look at everything with new eyes, and inspiration comes with it. I like art, old films and I have a thing for vintage, so that influence my work, too.
On a dreary day, what do you do to infuse your life with a little bit of sunshine?
My recipe is Nora Jones, dark chocolate, and my cat: they never fail to cheer me up!
At this very moment, what are you most grateful for?
I am grateful for having such a supporting husband and friends and for doing what I like.
