Today we are honored to introduce you to Sara from Sara Horne Jewelry.
Please introduce yourself to our readers and explain a little bit about your business.
I’m Sara Horne, owner and designer for Sara Horne Jewelry. I graduated with a BFA in painting and have been making jewelry all of my life. Sara Horne Jewelry grew because I was working in a small high end clothing boutique. So much of the jewelry was beautiful but definitely a high price range. I eventually was inspired to make my own pieces and the rest is kind of history. The owner asked me to sell my pieces on consignment in her store and from then on I had other store owners become interested in the line. Press then followed and I picked up a solid and great clientele. Jewelry started to take over my life, in a good way, so I made the move from Lake Tahoe, CA (where I had been living) to Venice Beach, CA. I currently sell all over the Los Angeles area, all the way to Portland, Oregon and Southampton, NY, and everywhere in-between. What is really important to me is making hand made quality pieces that can be integrated into many different individual styles with ease.
We believe that one of the ways to achieve happiness is to “Do what you love, love what you do.” How does this philosophy apply to your life?
This is so true. Honestly, if I wasn’t making jewelry for a living I would still be making it anyway. I am constantly inspired to create new pieces from everything around me and I can’t really turn it off! I love the way different colors and textures interact in any dimension, so jewelry really is just a part of me. My favorite part is giving away pieces to my friends and family; if I could give it away to everyone I would!
Our mission here at The Bright Side Project is to spread sunshine on a daily basis because we firmly believe that life is (still) beautiful. Where do you find beauty and inspiration?
I find inspiration everywhere! From people’s style on the street, colors in nature and in the city, the way colors and textures interact everywhere. In other people’s style/clothing/fashion choices. Basically my eyes are always open and I usually end up being inspired when I least expect it.
On a dreary day, what do you do to infuse your life with a little bit of sunshine?
Music, candles, and soft lighting…I love all of it! I stay in my comfy pajamas and enjoy the warmth of my surroundings. My home is my sanctuary, it is very important that it always feels comfortable, current, and inspired.
What are you most grateful for?
Definitely my mom, friends, and everyone that has helped me along the way. I seriously couldn’t have gotten to whereI am now without the help of other’s generosity.
