Today we are honored to introduce you to Lisa from Zelma Rose.
Please introduce yourself to our readers and explain a little bit about your business.
I’m Lisa Anderson Shaffer, Designer & Owner of Zelma Rose. Zelma Rose was founded in 2010 inspired by the age old Anderson Family tradition of skilled hand craftsmanship. At ZR we bring classic style + modern design to fashionable ladies and gents.
We believe that one of the ways to achieve happiness is to “Do what you love, love what you do.” How does this philosophy apply to your life?
In every possible way. Making and designing for Zelma Rose is revisiting my first career as a fine artist. I left art to follow an interest in psychology, earning a masters degree and becoming a licensed psychotherapist. I was in Private Practice when I just knew that something didn’t feel right. I loved my practice and working with people, but I always had this feeling that just wouldn’t go away. When I left my practice and started Zelma Rose that feeling in the pit of my stomach disappeared. Being a designer/maker/owner is a lot of hard work, and juggling that with being mama and wife can be a challenge, but it is true what they say, when you do what you love you will never work a day in your life. I feel so lucky and grateful to be able to do what I love each and every day. I’m am maker. I get to be one. It just plain rules.
Our mission here at The Bright Side Project is to spread sunshine on a daily basis because we firmly believe that life is (still) beautiful. Where do you find beauty and inspiration?
I find beauty everyday in my daughter. She is simply illuminating.
On a dreary day, what do you do to infuse your life with a little bit of sunshine?
The Bay Area is such a place of great beauty. I am so inspired by my surroundings here. Whether rain or sunshine the color of the trees, water and mountains, the style and individuality of the people in Northern California always brings me to life.
